About this version

A big birthday at home needs one sign more than any other: the one on the front door or the side gate that tells guests they are in the right place and which way to go. This version prints Welcome to in a small line at the top, the name and the birthday, Rosie's 40th, as the main words in WallKiwi's playful lettering, and a line underneath saying where the party is, with a bold arrow beside the words pointing left. The whole sign is coral inside a single rounded border, which looks cheerful without being a children's party sign.

The sheet is A3 landscape, 420 mm wide and 297 mm tall. On a landscape sheet the arrow sits beside the words and takes about a quarter of the width; the words fill the rest as large as they fit. It needs A3 paper, and the footer says so; on an A4-only printer, switch the paper to A4 and the same layout prints at a smaller size, or take the PDF to a print shop.

Change the name, the age and the line underneath: Welcome to Dad's 60th, Welcome to our housewarming, Welcome to Leo's 7th, Welcome to the street party. Point the arrow the way guests need to walk, or choose no arrow for a sign that hangs inside the room. For a surprise party, the line underneath can say Please come round the side and keep quiet. A garden party sign might point down the side of the house; a hall party might point up the stairs.

Print at 100% on card and fix the sign at eye height where guests arrive, on the front door, the gate or the wall beside the bell. Removable adhesive strips or a ribbon round a door knocker hold card well and come off cleanly. If rain is forecast, put it in a clear sleeve. Make a matching banner with the party banner maker for inside, and the two will look like a set.
