About this version

Reserved signs keep the right seats free: the front rows at a ceremony, the family tables at a reception, the table nearest the cake for grandparents, or a group booking in a pub or restaurant. This version is a table tent. It prints on one landscape A4 sheet with the sign twice, once on each half, and the top half printed upside down. Fold along the dashed line across the middle with the printing outside, and the sign stands on its own and reads the right way up from both sides of the table.

Each side is 297 mm wide and 105 mm tall. Reserved is set as large as it fits in classic display lettering in charcoal, with for the family of the bride underneath in smaller lettering, inside a double border on each side. Charcoal suits any colour scheme and prints well on a black-and-white printer, so it is the safe choice when you need ten of these in a hurry.

Make one for each reserved place and change the line underneath: for the family of the groom, Grandparents, Wedding party, Mr and Mrs Shah, or a time, such as Reserved from 7 pm. Leave the line underneath blank for a plain Reserved sign. For pews or rows of chairs at a ceremony, a flat sign tied to the end of the row works better than a tent: choose Flat sign, A4 landscape, and tie it on with ribbon through two punched holes.

Print at 100% on card of 200 gsm or more, or a paper tent will sag in a warm room. Score the fold first with a ruler and the back of a knife so it folds sharply and stands straight. If a draught or a fan might knock it over, a dab of putty under each edge holds it in place. Collect the signs at the end of the night; they fold flat and can be used again.
