A table plan, or seating chart, shows guests which table they sit at as they arrive. This tool turns a typed list of tables and guests into a printable plan: a card per table in columns, or every guest A to Z with their table, sized to fit one A3 or A4 poster, or one A5 card per table.

The plan fits itself to the paper. By table, each table is a card with its name at the top and its guests underneath, in rows of up to six; the tool tries every number of columns and the largest type size, starting at 20 pt on A3 and 15 pt on A4, and keeps the biggest that puts every table on one sheet, centring a short last row. A to Z, every guest is listed by surname under letter headings, with their table on the right and a dotted line between, in up to five columns of even length. If a plan cannot fit one sheet with names at 8 pt or more, it continues onto further sheets at a comfortable size, and the tool says so rather than printing names too small to read.
An A3 poster is 297 by 420 mm and needs A3 paper or a print shop, which can also enlarge the PDF to A2 or A1 for an easel without blurring, because the lettering is drawn as shapes. An A4 poster is 210 by 297 mm. Cards print one table to an A5 card, 148 by 210 mm, two to a landscape A4 sheet, with the table name at the top, the guests underneath and the line under the title at the foot, for pegging to a board or a line of string. Up to 60 tables and 600 guests make one plan.
Put each table's name on its own line ending in a colon, such as Table 1: or Bluebell:, and list that table's guests underneath, one per line. Leave blank lines between tables if it helps you read it; they are ignored. Paste a list from a spreadsheet the same way.
By table suits up to about 80 guests and lets people see who they are sitting with. Over that, an A to Z list by surname is quicker to search: guests find their own name, read the table and move on, so a queue does not build at the easel.
A1 (594 by 841 mm) is the usual easel size at a venue, and A2 works for a smaller room. Make the plan as an A3 poster and ask a print shop to enlarge it; the PDF stays sharp at any size. A4 suits a small wedding or a frame on a table.
The tool shrinks the names until they fit, but never below 8 pt. Past that it continues onto a second sheet and tells you. Switch to A3, or to the A to Z list, which fits more names, or print one A5 card per table instead.
Tick the sort option and each table's guests are listed A to Z by surname, the last word of each name. Leave it off to keep the order you typed, such as couples together or the top table in order of seats.
Print table numbers for a wedding or party: numerals, numbers in words or table names, as folded tent cards, A5 cards or 4 by 6 inch frame cards.
Make folded name place cards for a wedding, dinner party or event: names on both sides, an optional second line, at a true printed size. Free A4 PDF.
Make a big printable sign for a wedding, party or event: your words as large as they fit, an optional arrow, on A4, A3 or as a folded table tent.
