About this version

A guestbook only fills up if people notice it, and a small sign on the table is what makes them stop and pick up the pen. This version prints Please sign our in a small line at the top, Guestbook as the main word, and a short invitation underneath: Leave us a message, a memory or your best advice. The lettering is WallKiwi's handwriting style, which has a softer, written feel than the bold classic lettering, and everything prints in gold inside a double border of a bold outer line and a fine inner line.

The sheet is A4 portrait, 210 by 297 mm, which fits a standard A4 photo frame, a clipboard stand or a small table easel. The main word is set as large as it fits across the sheet, about 15 cm wide, and the line underneath wraps onto two lines in smaller lettering so it reads at arm's length without crowding the main word.

If your guestbook is something else, change the words to match: a polaroid guestbook (Please take a photo and add it to our book), an audio guestbook on a vintage telephone (Pick up the phone and leave us a message), a jenga set, a framed print to sign or a jar of advice cards. The same sign works for a birthday book, a retirement card that everyone signs or a christening. Gold prints as a warm mustard tone; for real metallic lettering, choose black and white and print on gold card. Navy, sage and berry all suit a wedding table if gold does not.

Print at 100% on card and put it in a frame without glass, or stand it in a small easel. Put the table where people pass slowly, such as near the drinks or by the seating plan, rather than by the door where everyone hurries through. Leave three or four pens that work, and ask an usher or a bridesmaid to point it out during the drinks reception. Afterwards, the sign can be glued into the front of the guestbook itself.
