About this version

A Just married banner hangs behind the top table, along the front of a sweetheart table, across the back of the wedding car or over the door of the venue as the couple leave. This one is made to sit quietly with wedding flowers rather than shout over them. Each flag is white with a scalloped, rounded bottom edge and a sage green border drawn inside the cut line, and the letters are set in the classic display face in the same sage. A sage heart sits on its own flag between the two words.

The white flags with a coloured edge use far less ink than solid flags, which matters if you are printing several banners for the same day, and they look good on ivory, cream or pale grey card as well as white. The rounded bottom suits the soft shapes of most wedding stationery. Twelve flags print two to a landscape A4 sheet: six sheets, and about 1.8 m of ribbon once strung.

If your wedding colours are different, choose another single colour: navy, berry, gold and charcoal all suit wedding stationery, and gold prints as a warm mustard tone rather than metallic. For something to match the couple's names, make a second banner of their names and a heart, such as Amy and Joe, or Mr and Mrs. To print gold or silver letters, choose black and white and print on metallic card, which most printers can feed one sheet at a time.

Thread the flags on ivory or sage ribbon rather than string for a wedding: fold the strip at the top over the ribbon and glue it with a glue stick or double-sided tape. If the banner is going on a car, tie it on before the flowers and keep it below the rear window so the driver can see. For a venue, check whether they allow tape on walls; most prefer ribbon tied between two chair backs, a pair of hooks or the ends of a flower arch.
