About this version

A sale ticket has to show two prices at once and make the new one win. These are window cards at A6 size, 148 by 105 mm, two to an A4 sheet, so the four tickets in this set print on two sheets. The item name sits in white on a solid coral band across the top of each card. Underneath, the old price prints as Was £60 in grey, with the £60 struck through by a coral line, and below that the new price fills most of the card in large dark rounded lettering. One ticket also has a short note at the bottom. The sample is a clothing sale: winter coats £35, was £60; knitwear £15, was £28, in all sizes; leather boots £45, was £80; scarves and hats £8, was £14.

Type your own items as Item = new price | was old price. Add another bar for a note, such as All sizes, Selected lines or While stocks last. A line without a was-price prints a normal ticket in the same style. The A6 card is right for a window or the end of a rail; for prices on each item, choose swing tags, and for a shelf, shelf-edge labels.

Show sale prices honestly. A was-price should be one the item was genuinely on sale at for a reasonable period, and the reduction should apply at the till. Keep the tickets near the goods they describe, and take them down when the sale ends so the window does not look tired.

Print at 100% on card. The coral band runs right to the cut edges, so cut accurately along the dashed lines, or trim a millimetre inside them for a clean edge. Tape the cards to the inside of the window facing out, or stand them in A6 acrylic holders on a shelf or a counter. Reprint the price when it drops again; the tool keeps the same layout.
