A cake sale moves fast, and a clear price on every plate saves the people serving from answering the same question all afternoon. This set prints ten price labels for a typical bake sale table, each 70 by 38 mm, fourteen to an A4 sheet, so they all fit on one sheet with four spaces at the bottom. Each label has a pale pastel band across the top with the cake's name in dark bold type, then the price in large dark playful lettering. The bands cycle through pale coral, yellow, green, blue and lilac, so neighbouring plates are easy to tell apart. The sample covers brownies 80p, lemon drizzle slice £1, cupcakes 70p, flapjack 60p, rocky road 80p, cookies 50p, a gluten-free brownie at £1 with a Gluten free note, a whole Victoria sponge at £8, scones 60p with jam, and tea or coffee £1.
Type your own bakes and prices one per line, as Brownies = 80p. Add a note after a bar for anything people ask about: Gluten free, Vegan, Contains nuts or Whole cake. If several people bring the same bake, set Copies of each to print one label for every plate. For a coffee morning, add drinks and a line such as Donations welcome with no price.
Allergen questions are the ones that matter. Ask each baker for a list of ingredients, keep it with the cash tin, and label anything made without gluten, dairy or nuts only if you are sure. Round prices make change easier: 50p, 80p and £1 are quicker to handle than 75p, and a jar for card payments or a QR code for donations helps people without cash.
Print at 100% on card and cut along the dashed lines; one cut separates two labels. Fold a label in half lengthways along a strip of card glued behind it to make it stand, tuck it into a cocktail stick flag, or tape it to the front edge of the plate. Pastels use very little ink, so a second set for next time costs almost nothing.
