About this version

Charity shops price a lot of stock quickly, and most items fall into a few standard price bands. This set is built for that: it prints the five most common prices five times each, 25 swing tags in all, filling exactly one A4 sheet. Each tag is 50 by 30 mm. The left-hand end has a dashed punch mark and two dashed diagonals across the corners to snip off, and a fine grey line marks off the hole end. The item name prints in small bold type at the top, and the price fills the rest of the tag in large berry rounded lettering. The five prices in the sample are jumper £4, shirt or blouse £3.50, hardback book £2, paperback £1 and jeans £5.

Type your own price bands, one per line, and set Copies of each to how many you go through in a session; five lines at five copies fills a sheet exactly, and up to 20 copies of each will run across several sheets. Use a note after a bar for a size or a donor's Gift Aid code if your shop tracks it on the tag. Berry stands out on a rail of clothes; your charity's own colour is a good choice if it is one of the options.

Keep the price bands short and the same across the shop, so volunteers can price without asking. A tag with the item named, such as Jumper, also helps at the till when a tag has come off. For better pieces, type a line with its own price, such as Wool coat = £18, and print one.

Print at 100% on card and cut along the dashed lines; the tags share their edges, so a sheet of five rows and five columns takes twelve straight cuts. Snip the corners, punch the holes with a single-hole punch, and attach with a tagging gun or thread. Plain white tags with berry lettering use little ink, which matters when you print hundreds a month.
