This sheet prints 14 vegetable plant stakes at 120 by 25 mm: tomato, courgette, runner bean, lettuce, carrot, beetroot and more, each with its variety and a Sown line to write the date on. A forest green band with a leaf marks the top of each stake, and the pointed end pushes into the soil.

This version prints one full A4 sheet of 14 plant stakes for a typical vegetable patch or a set of raised beds. The vegetables are Tomato (Gardener's Delight), Courgette (Black Beauty), Runner bean (Scarlet Emperor), French bean (Cobra), Lettuce (Little Gem), Carrot (Nantes 2), Beetroot (Boltardy), Spinach (Perpetual), Radish (French Breakfast), Kale (Nero di Toscana), Spring onion (White Lisbon), Pea (Hurst Green Shaft), Cucumber (Marketmore) and Squash (Crown Prince). Each stake is 120 mm long and 25 mm wide with a 20 mm point, and the sheet prints landscape, two stakes across and seven down. The name is in rounded lettering in forest green, the variety sits underneath in bold, and a Sown line on the right waits for the date.
To make your own, replace the list with what you are actually growing, one vegetable to a line, and put the variety after a |. Leave the variety off if you do not know it; the label simply shows the name larger in the space. If you sow in batches, such as lettuce every three weeks, set Copies of each to 3 and write a different date on each. Switch the colour to the bright mix if you want each crop to stand out from its neighbours, or to black and white to save ink.
Labels matter most at the start of the season, when a row of seedlings all look alike, and again at harvest, when you want to remember which tomato did best so you can grow it again. Writing the sowing date helps you work out when to expect a crop and when a row has failed and needs resowing. Push each stake in at the end of its row or beside the plant, about a third of its length into the soil, so the name stays above the leaves.
Print at 100% on 160 to 250 gsm card or on waterproof synthetic paper. Card needs laminating for outdoor use: laminate the whole sheet, then cut along the solid outlines, leaving a sliver of plastic beyond the edge so water cannot creep in. Cut the point with two straight snips. Write the date in pencil, which outlasts most pens in the sun, and the stakes will last a full season.
