This sheet prints 30 pot labels at 60 by 25 mm: three each for ten seedlings sown indoors in spring, such as tomato, chilli, sweet pepper and aubergine. Each label has the variety and a Sown line for the date, and each crop takes the next colour of a bright mix so trays are easy to tell apart.

This version is for the busy weeks of spring sowing, when a windowsill or greenhouse bench fills with trays and small pots that all look the same. It prints one full A4 sheet of 30 rectangular pot labels, each 60 by 25 mm, three across and ten down. There are ten crops, three labels each: Tomato (Moneymaker), Chilli (Apache), Sweet pepper (California Wonder), Aubergine (Black Beauty), Cucumber (Marketmore), Courgette (Defender), Squash (Butternut), Sweetcorn (Swift), Celeriac (Prinz) and Leek (Musselburgh). Every label has a Sown line, and each crop's band takes the next colour of WallKiwi's bright mix, so all three tomato labels are coral and all three chilli labels sunshine yellow.
To use it for your own sowing, type your crops one to a line with the variety after a |, and set Copies of each to the number of pots or trays you sow of each. Thirty labels fill exactly one sheet; more spill onto a second. If you prefer one colour, choose it under Colours. Pot labels can be taped or glued to the side of a pot or tray, or slid into a clear plastic sleeve, and they are small enough to tuck into a module tray.
The sown date is the most useful thing on a seed label. It tells you when to expect the first leaves, when to prick out and when a tray has failed. Chillies and peppers can take three weeks to germinate in a cool room, so a date stops you giving up too early. When you pot seedlings on, move the label with them, and when you plant out, the same label can go in the ground beside the plant if you laminated it.
Print at 100% on plain paper if the labels are going on pots indoors, or on card or waterproof synthetic paper for a greenhouse, where condensation softens paper quickly. Laminating before cutting makes the labels last for transplanting. Cut the sheet into strips along the long lines first, then across. Write dates in pencil or a fine permanent pen.
