About this version

Glass and acrylic jars on a bathroom shelf keep small things tidy, and a label stops everyone in the house asking where the plasters are. This version prints one full A4 sheet of 10 oval labels, each 70 mm wide and 45 mm tall, two across and five down. The labels are Cotton pads, Cotton buds, Cotton wool, Bath salts, Bath bombs, Hair ties, Hair clips, Make-up brushes, Plasters and Spare toothbrushes. Each oval is filled with a soft pastel, coral, yellow, green, blue and lilac in turn, with a fine line in the deeper colour inside the edge, and the words in dark rounded lettering.

To make your own, type what lives in your jars and baskets, one to a line. The oval also suits laundry jars (washing pods, pegs, stain remover) and a craft shelf (buttons, ribbon, glue sticks). If your jars are small, choose the 50 mm round label instead. For a calmer look, choose One colour and sage or charcoal with the Border style, or keep the pastels if the labels are for a child's bathroom.

Bathrooms are damp, which is hard on paper. Put labels on the outside of jars, away from the bath and shower spray, or on the lid. Bath salts and bath bombs draw moisture, so keep those jars sealed and their labels high on the side. Medicines are better in a locked cabinet than in an open jar, even with a label.

Print at 100% on waterproof or vinyl sticker paper if you can, which shrugs off steam and splashes; ordinary matt sticker paper is fine for a cupboard. Cut the sheet into rectangles along the dashed lines, then follow the oval's outline in one smooth cut, turning the paper rather than the scissors. Smooth each label from the middle outwards onto clean, dry glass.
