At the end of the summer term many children give their teacher a small present, and a tag the child fills in by hand means more than anything bought. This version prints 6 folded tags on one A4 sheet, three across and two down. Each prints flat at 60 by 120 mm with a dotted fold line across the middle; folded, it is a 60 mm square. The front has a sky blue heart above Thank you for a brilliant year in rounded sky blue lettering, inside a fine border. The back has To and From lines, printed upside down on the sheet so they read the right way once the tag is folded.
To adapt them, change the message: Thank you for everything, Thank you for helping me grow, or a line for a teaching assistant, a nursery key worker or a coach. Type the teacher's name in To if the tags are all for the same person, and leave From for each child to write. For a group present from the whole year, one tag is enough; the inside of the folded tag is blank, with room for everyone to sign.
Children can do most of the work. Older ones can cut the straight lines and fold along the dots; younger ones can colour the heart in or add a drawing inside. A tag goes well with a plant, a candle, a mug, chocolates or a jar of homemade jam. Write the child's full name on the back as well as the first name, because a teacher receives a lot of presents on the last day.
Print at 100% on 200 to 250 gsm card. Cut along the outer lines, then fold each tag along the dotted line with the printing outside, and press the fold flat with a ruler. Punch a hole near the folded corner through both layers and thread ribbon through, or slip the folded tag over the ribbon on the present.
