Christmas is when most people run out of gift tags, usually late on Christmas Eve. This version prints 20 tags on two A4 sheets, enough for a family's presents. Each is a luggage tag, 50 by 90 mm, lying on its side with clipped corners at one end and a 6 mm hole inside a berry red ring. At the top sits a holly sprig drawn as plain shapes, two forest green leaves with three spikes a side and three berries, then Merry Christmas in rounded berry red lettering over two lines, and To and From lines with room to write a name. A fine berry red line runs inside the edge of each tag.
To change the set, type a different message, such as Happy Christmas, Season's greetings or Happy holidays, and choose the number of sheets: each adds 10 tags. If all the presents are from the same people, type the names in From, such as Love from the Clarks, and only the To line is left to write. Choose forest green or navy for a quieter look, or the bright mix for children's presents.
A few practical things help on the day. Write the names before you wrap, so each tag goes on the right present, and tie it on rather than taping it, because taped tags get torn off with the paper. For children who cannot read yet, add a small drawing or a colour code on the back. Matching tags across all the presents make a pile under the tree look planned.
Print at 100% on white or kraft card of 200 to 250 gsm. Cut along the straight lines, then snip each clipped corner, and punch the hole through the marked circle. Thread with red ribbon, green string or baker's twine. Any spare tags keep flat in an envelope for next year, or for presents that arrive late.
