About this version

A residents' association board usually hangs in a block entrance, a lift lobby or by the post boxes, and most people read it on their way past with shopping in their hands. This set keeps it short and large. The banner reads Residents in sky blue rounded capitals 10 cm tall, with a sky blue rule along the top and bottom of the band, across four A4 landscape sheets that butt together into a strip about 80 cm long. Four section headers follow on two more sheets: Meetings, Bins and recycling, Repairs, and Neighbourhood watch, each a solid sky blue strip 27.7 by 9 cm with white lettering. Six sheets in all, and the headers are big enough to read from the far side of a lobby.

Add the sections your building needs: Parking, Parcels, Garden rota, Building manager, Fire safety or Events are common, and the tool keeps every header at the same lettering size. For a street or estate association rather than a block, change the banner to the street or estate name. If the board sits on a coloured wall, choose outlined headers so they stand out without adding more colour, or choose black and white and print on coloured card.

Put the date of the next meeting under Meetings in large writing, and take old minutes down when the next ones go up. Bin collection days are the most read notice in any block, so keep that section current, especially around bank holidays. The repairs section is the place for the managing agent's phone number and the out-of-hours line.

Print on card at 100% and cut out each banner band on its dashed outline. Butt the four bands together in order, following the note printed under each one. In a shared entrance, a lockable glass-fronted case keeps notices from being taken down or added to; if the board is open, laminate the headers and fix them with staples rather than pins so they stay put.
