About this version

An office notice board carries two kinds of notice: the ones the law or the insurer expects to be on display, such as the health and safety poster, the first aiders and the fire marshals, and the ones that make a workplace friendlier, such as the social calendar and the kitchen rota. This set gives both a clear, plain home. The banner reads Around the office in classic charcoal capitals 10 cm tall, inside a band with a charcoal rule along the top and bottom. Fifteen letters at that size fill eight A4 landscape sheets and the banner is about 1.7 m long once the sheets are butted together. Six section headers follow on two sheets: Health and safety, Fire marshals, First aiders, Social, Announcements and Kitchen rota, each a white strip 27.7 by 6 cm with a thick charcoal outline.

If your board is narrower than 1.7 m, shorten the banner to Notices or Team news, which fit on three or four sheets, or leave it blank and print only the headers. Swap or add sections to suit the business: Wellbeing, Training, Birthdays, Parking, IT help or Visitor sign-in are common. Charcoal suits most offices and photocopies well; navy or sky blue match a lot of company colours.

Keep the statutory sections together and at eye height near the main door or the kitchen, where everyone passes. Under First aiders and Fire marshals, pin a photo and the desk or extension of each person, and check them whenever someone leaves. The social and kitchen sections can go lower and change weekly.

Print at 100% on the office printer; the outlined headers use very little toner. Cut out each banner band on its dashed outline and butt them together in the order printed under each band, checking the spacing between words as you go. Fix the headers with drawing pins at each end or with removable adhesive putty on a painted wall, and laminate the safety headers so they survive being unpinned when the notices change.
