This plan hangs three A3 frames side by side in portrait, 8 cm apart, so the group is 105.1 cm wide and 42 cm tall with its centre 145 cm above the floor. Every nail sits 161 cm high, at 14.9, 52.6 and 90.3 cm from the left edge, and each frame has a true-size template.

A row of three is the simplest gallery wall and the one that suits most rooms: a set of prints above a bed, three posters along a hallway, or a triptych above a console table. This version uses A3 frames, 29.7 by 42 cm, hung in portrait with an 8 cm gap between them. That makes the whole row 105.1 cm wide and 42 cm tall. With the centre of the group 145 cm above the floor, the tops of the frames are at 166 cm and the bottoms at 124 cm. With a 5 cm hanger drop, the three nails all sit 161 cm above the floor, at 14.9 cm, 52.6 cm and 90.3 cm from the left end of the row. The PDF is 13 sheets: the plan, then four sheets for each frame's template, because an A3 frame is bigger than the part of an A4 sheet a printer can reach.
To use your own frames, change the frame size and the orientation, and the row, the table and the templates all change with them. Turn the frames to landscape for a long, low row above a sofa or a headboard. Narrow the gap to 5 cm if the prints belong together as one picture split in three; widen it to 10 cm for three separate pieces. Measure your hanger drop on the back of the frame rather than relying on the default, because it varies from 2 cm on a small frame to 10 cm or more on a wire.
Centre the row on the furniture below it rather than on the wall, and keep it about two thirds of the furniture's width: a 105 cm row suits a sofa or a bed about 150 to 160 cm wide. Above a bed, hang it a little lower, with the bottoms about 25 cm above the headboard. In a hallway, the 145 cm centre height lines the row up with doors and light switches nicely.
Print at 100% on plain paper. Cut out each template and glue the four parts together along the glue strips, then tape all three to the wall and check the tops with a spirit level. Live with them for a day if you can. Before you drill, run a cable and pipe detector over each crosshair. Use picture hooks on plasterboard and wall plugs on brick, then hang the frames and peel the paper away.
