A grid of four is a calm, ordered gallery wall: four botanical prints, a set of family photographs printed the same size, four maps, or a series of illustrations. This version uses 30 by 40 cm frames in portrait, two across and two down, with a 5 cm gap between them in both directions. The whole block is 65 cm wide and 85 cm tall. Its centre sits 145 cm above the floor, so the top of the grid is at 187.5 cm and the bottom at 102.5 cm. With a 5 cm hanger drop, the two upper nails are 182.5 cm above the floor and the two lower ones 137.5 cm, and in each row they sit 15 cm and 50 cm from the left edge of the grid. The PDF is 17 sheets: the plan, then four sheets for each frame, because a 30 by 40 cm frame is bigger than one sheet's printable area.
To change it, choose another frame size and the grid redraws itself. Turn the frames to landscape for a wider, lower block that suits a sideboard. If your frames are sold by picture size, measure the border and type it as the frame edge, so the gaps are true between the outsides of the frames. For a grid, an equal gap matters more than anywhere else, because the eye reads the straight lines between frames at once.
A tall block like this suits a narrow stretch of wall: beside a window, at the end of a corridor, or on a chimney breast. Above a desk or a chest of drawers, lower the centre height so the bottom of the grid is about 20 cm above the furniture. Use matching frames and mounts if the pictures differ, and different pictures if the frames match: one thing needs to stay the same.
Print at 100%. Glue each template together along its strips, tape the top two to the wall first, check them with a spirit level, then hang the lower two from them, using a 5 cm offcut of card as a spacer. Check for cables and pipes before drilling, use the right fixing for the wall, and hang the frames in number order.
