About this version

A big birthday, an anniversary or a family celebration in a hired room needs a seating plan as much as a wedding does, but it can be more relaxed. This plan prints Take a seat in WallKiwi's playful lettering, which has a cheerful, hand-drawn feel, with Linda and Graham's ruby wedding anniversary underneath and a short rule with a diamond, all in coral inside a fine double frame. Below are five table cards, each with a rounded coral outline: a Top table for the couple and their oldest friends, then Tables 2 to 5.

The 30 guests sit six to a table. The plan prints on one A4 portrait sheet in two columns, with the fifth table centred on its own row underneath, and names at 15 pt, the largest the tool uses on A4. Table 4 seats the grandchildren together, which is a common choice at family parties so the children can be supervised in one place. The same layout fits a 40th, a 60th or an 80th birthday, a christening lunch, a retirement do or a reunion dinner.

Type your own tables and guests, each table's name on its own line ending in a colon, followed by its guests. Change the title to anything you like, such as Dinner is served or Find your seat, and the line underneath to the occasion and the date. The plan is one colour, which keeps it easy to read; choose sage, navy, berry or charcoal for a calmer look, or black and white for printing on coloured card. For more than about 50 guests, switch to A3 or to the A to Z list.

Print at 100% and put the plan in an A4 frame or a menu holder at the door, or tape it to the wall beside the bar. For a party in a hall, a second copy by the buffet saves people walking back. Make matching table numbers with the bright party table numbers set, and the hall looks planned without much work.
