About this version

A café menu board has to be read from the queue, often over someone's shoulder, so it needs large type, clear sections and prices that line up. This preset prints a full small-café menu on one A3 portrait sheet, 29.7 by 42 cm, in the chalkboard style: a dark charcoal panel with a thin cream frame, the café name in large cream rounded lettering, a subtitle and a small ornament rule. Below are 21 items in two columns under five pale yellow headings. Coffee has espresso £2.40, Americano £2.90, flat white £3.20, cappuccino £3.30, latte £3.40 and mocha £3.60. Tea and more has a pot of English breakfast, Earl Grey or peppermint, hot chocolate and chai latte. Breakfast, Lunch and Cakes follow, with short descriptions in a softer cream under some items. Each item name is bold, with a dotted leader across to its price on the right.

Type your own café name, items and prices. Each section stays in one column where it can, and the text grows or shrinks to fill the board: fewer items print larger. If you add many more lines, the tool steps the size down until everything fits, and tells you if anything is left off. Choose A4 for a menu on each table, and the light board if you reprint often.

Keep a café menu short enough to scan in the time it takes to queue, and order sections the way people decide: drinks first, then food. Put prices as numbers without words, use the same format throughout, and mark gluten-free and vegan items in the description. Allergen information must be available on request, so a line in the subtitle such as Please ask about allergens is worth adding.

The chalkboard style prints a large dark area, so print one copy on matt card or photo paper, check the colour, and laminate it to wipe clean. Most home printers do not take A3; a print shop or library can print the PDF at actual size. An A3 poster frame or a wooden easel on the counter shows it well.
